I've been away from the computer too long, and had a busy and good weekend. I got to visit my friend who's staying in Connecticut again, and hang out with her great, big family. Then I went to Boston to meet another friend who came down from Upstate NY- we ate the most delicious Ethiopian food at Addis Red Sea, I highly recommend it. Only, don't eat all day because the food is so fillling, but also so delicious that you start eating through the pain just to continue tasting the yummy. So go after fasting or something.
On Sunday we went to Boston's Chinatown for their August Moon (?) festival, which is supposedly like our Thanksgiving. The streets were really crowded with people and vendors, it smelled sort of funny in some places and delicous in others. My friend mentioned that throughout Boston he kept getting whiffs of an odor like stale vagina, which we attributed to a combinatioin of the harbor, poop, trash, and restaurant exhaust. Has anyone else noticed this occasional stink?
Anyways, the most exciting part was that all these vendors were selling baby turtles! I felt awful for them, and knew they must be coming from some horrible, illegal, unsanitary breeding farms- but... but they were just...so... CUTE. And so.. I bought a little tank with two inside. One seemed a lot quiter than the other, and I was afraid he was going to die soon but they both seem to be doing well now.
I did some more research on these little, coaster sized dudes and they're going to grow. A lot. Like as big as a shoebox lid... but luckily, my mom loves animals and our family is used to taking care of them and we've got tons of tanks and filters and stuff. If anyone has turtles though, any advice would be great!
I'll post some pictures of them later, they're adooooorrrrraaabbble. You'll see
