I wrote this in ShellyMC's journal, but I may as well post it here...
So far, I'm cleaning up Hunter's room and going through clothes he doesn't wear anymore. Was going to donate them to Goodwill, but decided not to. Called the LA Union Rescue Mission to see if their Women & Children's program could use the books he doesn't read and the clothes he's outgrown for children of skidrow. I have plenty of clothes that I don't fit into that would work well on someone else. With goodwill, they sell your items and sometimes it just sits there on the racks. I would feel much better knowing I made a small inkling of a difference by providing clothing and books.
I want to instill a philanthropical characteristic in our son. During high school I remember spending weekends helping feed those less fortunate in Downtown; sitting, talking and learning from those how and why they came to where they were. Then one night a week, volunteering at APLA during their Medi-Cal workshop to help those that needed medical attention understand the papertrail they were about to take on. Doing that brought many opportunities that were not expected, new friends and a different understanding on things.
Anyhow, little man decided to cut his bangs during arts and crafts last friday. The little girls cleaned up the chopped up bits of hair so he wouldn't get in trouble. Good lord, our boy comes home with hearts cut up from construction paper and it's not even Valentine's day. I am not looking forward to him getting older with this.
It's been a while since I posted photos.
To celebrate Hunter's new buzz cut, him and his cousin went wild...
here's our own Team Mini Wildboys:
Cheers,
Me
