so what's the deal w/the whole madonna adoption thing? i've been-and will continue to be-too lazy to find out the particulars of the situation so i'm not sure if there's an uproar because malawi doesn't allow international adoption or because the child has relatives and didn't need to be adopted? eh? how'd she find this kid anyway? did she just go over there and say "that one looks good"? all i have to say is this-if you're so rich that you can shop for kids like they're shoes, there are alot of kids here in the us who i'm sure would love to get out of foster care and who have problems that could most effectively be addressed by a person of means. but an american 4-yr-old w/a history of abuse and resultant behavioral problems is not nearly as trendy as a quirky foreign born child. i'm all for reaching out to other cultures and i know adopting in the us is a pain in the ass, but come on, if you can afford to go to another continent and do battle w/their govt for the sake of adoption, you could do it here. it just irritates me, the distribution of $ and assistance is so uneven. for example, nothing infuriates me more than those stupid game shows where people win shit tons of $ for knowing useless info or guessing correctly, meanwhile, there are starving and homeless people all over this country and agencies that help those people have to beg for donations from people like me who can barely afford to take care of themselves. and as a recipient of public aid myself, i can attest to the fact that not everyone who is poor is lazy and just doesn't want to work. in fact, some of the poorest people are also some of the hardest working, cuz those menial minimum wage jobs are fucking hard work, but you can't get ahead on 5.15/hr unless you don't need to eat. but people who have money choose to believe that anyone who doesn't is just a deadbeat and it isn't their job to help those people out. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. but i'm oh so glad that jessica a or who the fuck ever from kansas won a gagillion dollars on deal or no deal so she can buy a big house and a fancy car and send her kids to private school. cuz that's what's really important. am i a lil bitter? yep. dhs interviews will do that to a person.

As far as the whole celb adoption thing...i think of it like the whole designer dog in the purse trend. The only difference is that these *human* don't stay that cute portable size forever
