So this time I found a genuine goodie, unfortunately it was in an auction and I lost. It really frustrates me because of the historical signifigence and I'm not so sure they knew what it was. I think they thought it was a Civil War artifact. It was a navy officers sword from the Spanish American War, and this one in particular was literally WORN, so the name of the individual was unreadable on the blade. Even so the scabbard was engraved which shows that they were assigned to a ship that took part in all the naval battles of Cuba, particularly Cienfuegas which only three US ships were in the area and only two literally participated. Resulting in 46 crew members being awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. Any way I left the info for the winner of the auction, so perhaps they will get a pleasent surprise when they get a better idea of what they have. It's kinda hard to find such an item for that war.
My spelling is a little off, I'm tired
