My dad and I have been taking a machine shop class together. Nothing fancy... our first project (of which it's taken 4 classes to complete) was to make a small piece of metal even smaller. Not a useful form of smaller, but smaller none the less. I have to say it's nice to get to spend this time with the old man. I'm not one to approach people to share experiences with... solitude feels less awkward and embarrassing. Yet getting to spend some time geeking out with the old man has help settle some social restlessness i've been experiencing. I've also realized that genetics are pretty cool. Despite our different lifestyles and attitudes, we react to and solve problems pretty similarly. I've found myself watching him work and thinking "Is that why I do that"... pretty amazing.
