I've been there (Texas to London)! You know one thing that actually made the distance kind of fun was writing each other letters and post cards and care packages constantly!! Especially in these modern days of social media where you can text, Skype, tweet, etc... there is something kind of awesome to get a mailbox full of love from someone you care about and not just a bunch of bills and junk mail. But then again, I like Vice Principals, so....this could be a lame and antiquated idea. :P :D
