So, earlier this year I was growing frustrated that bar I work at had become a neglected child. No one really seemed to care about it anymore and it just kinda got by on auto-pilot. I got kinda fed up with that so I took the initiative and started fixing things. I figured they could fire me if I over-stepped my bounds. Instead, the owners seemed relieved and asked me to manage the bar. It's a job I neither wanted nor needed but I love my bar and the fuck-ups that frequent it so I decided to do it. An extra day of work ain't so bad.
I've been gone for the last month and hadn't worked at the bar in almost seven weeks so it's been a bit of a transition getting back into it and fixing everything that has been neglected in my absence and simultaneously ramping up for the world series this week. I spent a few hours yesterday and all day today decorating, installing huge tv's and upgrading the sound system. I even hired a dude to come in and paint the windows for us -- which was an awesome experience.
While at dinner tonight, I got a text from one of the owners...

Dear Tuffy. You are brilliant and deserve a raise. I'm meeting with (the other owner) tonight to discuss.
The money is nice but the acknowledgement really made me feel nice.
Now, I'm going to rest in preparation of the Giants kicking some ass tomorrow.
If you are in SF, you should come by Pop's and enjoy the game with me!
Also, here is a video of me raving in slow-motion.

Acknowledgement is underrated. You deserve more of it.
