Today's blog is all about Quality of Life.
Most people hate Mondays. I love them so much. I sleep in and I and can go to all of my favorite places and there's no line and no wait and I'll run into random friends and can catch up without all the usual hullabaloo and noise of other days of the week.
This is what the beginning of an awesome day looks like! I woke up early and lounged in bed until it was time to take a luxuriously long shower. Then I noticed it was beautiful outside so I was pretty excited to ride my bike downtown and back. The iPod shuffle algorithm must have also been feeling the spring fever because it busted out some rad jams and didn't stop! The Kills and Wolf Parade got things started off with a bang.
Next, I got my hair 'styled.' It was hair model day at one of SF's top salons so I got the full treatment. I always feel weird going into shi-shi salon but I relaxed immediately when I saw bartenders from two other bars as soon as I walked in. I like a good hair cut and today was pretty good.
I walked back out into the sun only to realize that I had lost my keys. MODED! I stood there staring at my bike trying to figure out if I had an extra set and kinda bumming that the next few hours of my day would be spent running around town making copies of keys. Then some AWESOME security dude walks out of H&M and asks, "Are you looking for these?" and then jingled my keys in the air for emphasis. STOKED! Float the dude a fiver for being rad and see what the iPod has to say about that...
Oh man! iPod is all about space rock -- Bowery Electric, Kinski and Jessamine! I biked out of downtown towards Zeitgeist for some food and a beer or two. I drew some owls and talked to a few friends and then headed up to say hi to Holly and hear about her trip to LA. Ipod kickedout some Jesus and Mary Chain and Johnathan Fire*Eater on the way home. Nice.
Pretty good day so far. Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if I had never walked away from six-figure salaries and 401ks and all that crap. There was a woman in the salon talking about her upcoming trip to Viet Nam. She's going for 8 days because that was al the time she could get off work. Fuck that! It's days like today and the fact that I'm considering going to Europe for 1-2 months that make me thankful that I don't in a cubicle 40 hours a week. I'm not getting rich but 'm staying happy.
Ok. Time to go ride my bike some more. Go to the store and get some bacon for tonight.
For you locals.... it's free bacon night tonight at Pop's. I'm also working tomorrow - which I guess is Lady's Night but I don't know what that entails.
Unrelated.... I have no idea how you spell "shi-shi" as I used it above (meaning posh) but I do know that Shi Shi was the emperor of Japan for 33 days. He was executed when he was only 10 years old.
Why in the world do I know that?
