Yesterday, Friday 3rd July 2009, this happened less than half a mile from my house. I was woken up at 6.50am by screaming sirens, lots of them.
There are many reports on our local newspaper's website but this says it all quite well and this one tells of all the tributes made to the younger of the two victims.
I wouldn't say I knew them both well but they were regular customers of mine in the taxi and even though they were naughty boys, they were always so respectful and sweet to me. If there was ever any trouble, Rich would sort it. He was a good guy and probably my favourite customer ever.
Having said that, he was a major cocaine dealer in Gosport and I don't like that one little bit. Apparently the murder of Rich was a 'hit' and unfortunately Matt tried to escape and got stabbed in the back and bled to death on the street.
I have so many mixed feelings about all this at the moment and I'm finding it extremely difficult to think about anything but them and the grisly way they met their end.
I've just bought a bunch of flowers and I'm going to walk down to the site in a minute with Tess and lay them with the rest of the flowers already down there.
Whatever they did in their lives, they didn't deserve to die. Gosport is a much poorer place without them.
RIP Richard Bateman and Matthew Stacey.

((hug))
a few years ago, my ex fiancee's brother was murdered. He was like a brother to ME and quite often looked out for me. Now, he was a drug dealer as well and did some not so nice things. a LOT of them actually. He was shot in the back twice, but was still alive when he was buried in the mesa here. I miss him a lot actually and know that LOTS wouldnt have happened to me if he were still alive. He would take care of ex's if they got too mean and well being like a sister, I was spoiled!
Its never easy honey. I am soo sorry and will keep you and Tessie (as always) and both boys families and friends in my thoughts and prayers.
