Hello friends;
Today has been a good day.
The builder came to see the house and has agreed that the kitchen ceiling will need to be redone - ok, so I don't relish the thought of having any more workmen in my house for a while but never mind; at least my kitchen will be put back together again. Also, none of the units need replacing or the floor so I got off pretty lightly. The bathroom floor is also ok and he even commented on how well the installation company did last year when they fitted my bathroom and kitchen - they didn't cut corners apparently. For the money I paid I should think not but you never know eh.
The carpet man also came out and agreed that the entire carpet will have to be removed and replaced - my little house is open plan so that means they'll have to replace the carpet in the lounge, the stairs and the landing. The carpet was in the house when I moved in in 1995 so I'm dead excited that I get a new one I get to go to the shop tomorrow and pick out what colour I want, how bloody exciting!
The only thing now that I need to arrange is a new carpet in my bedroom and the house is pretty much done. The garden is still a bit of an issue but it's not too bad. I have ordered my new compost thingy and I need to buy one more sheet of membrane and some bark and that should be it.
Sooooo, me and Tessie are moving back home tomorrow. There's only one light switch in the kitchen that I can't use at the moment but the rest of the house is ok. The carpet stinks but hopefully tomorrow I can arrange to have the new one fitted asap so that's all good. I've got a lot of cleaning up to do when I get home but never mind; it's almost the weekend
I've also had the week off working in the taxi office - there was no way I was going to drive for 45 mins each way to work for minimum wage!! So, I've used up some of my holiday which is great because I'll still get paid on Tuesday even though I've not worked I'll do my shift tomorrow night because I get to work with Chelsea who's an absolute sweetheart. We'll sit and gossip for 6 hours and watch BB on 4oD and oh yeah, answer the phone occasionally too!
Unfortunately the house near Sars that I wanted to rent has already been taken but I spoke to a local estate agent today and told them what I'm looking for so no doubt they'll keep me informed of any new properties that become available.
All in all it's been a nice week; very different to usual but Sarah has been a bloody star and has made us feel so welcome. Tessie has also loved it; she even got to chase a rat last night! It's just so sweet that even at her tender age of 14, her instinct is still so strong. She was really pleased with herself that she was able to protect her property (even though it's not really her property!). She's also been a star in the van too and I think she's gotten used to being driven about a bit too, which is a really good thing. Hopefully next time we go on one of our cheapie holidays, she'll find it a lot less stressful
I'm gonna sign off now, I want to paint my nails with Sarah's nail varnish and I've only got tonight left to do it, yikes!!
Much love
xx
