I just found out that the company I work for is now in the Union. I had heard that people in the company were trying to get us in there, and apparently we were all supposed to get papers on it so we could vote. They needed half the company to vote yes for it. I also just found out the one girl that works in my house got the papers in our mail box at the office and threw them away so no one in our house could vote, because she didn't want to be in the Union. That's pretty petty. I was only gonna vote yes because the insurance is alot better and alot less inexpensive, and we get an 80 cent raise. Not only that if our company goes bankrupt (which I think it might be), and someone comes in and buys us out, the Union will fight for us to keep our wages the same as they are now.
I guess there is a meeting sometime torwards the end of the month with the union reps and the big wigs from our company to toss around ideas for what will make my company a better place for our clients and a better place to work for. I think I'm gonna suggest joining forces with the YMCA to get us 1/2 off a year membership, so we can keep ourselves in shape. Working with mentally handicapped people is strenuous work. I work in a low functioning house and there is alot of lifting and bending. I think it will also boost moral. If you exercise, you feel good about yourself, and it also releases stress. I don't know if they will go for it, so we will see!
