Ok, many people are writing journals concerning what is happening in New Orleans. Well as an act of defiance I choose to write about something else.

I read that back in 1998 they found evidence of water ice on the moon. This is one of the core elements needed for us to ever consider setting up a lunar colony or station. Its been nearly a decade and we havent sent any manned missions to verify these findings. We havent even sent robots to explore this evidence.

We cant build space craft large enough to do any real work in space on earth because of the great amounts of fuel it takes to reach escape velocity. So lets build our ships on the moon where the velocity needed to escape the moons gravity well is so much less.

Our resources on this planet are dwindling our fuel and building supplies are becoming more and more expensive because the need is greater then the supply. Why arent we looking to the solar system to help with these problems?

We have a 9 planets and a large asteroid field that we could explore to help fortify our resources and those added resources could also be used to colonize our solar system. Why are we spending billions on a war/police action over oil in a foreign land when we could we could be using that same money to give us a foot hold off of our planet?

P.s. We dont have to worry about Hurricanes on the Moon!
