Today is the day for those who haven't voted yet. You have the chance to select your vision of the future for our country. Please use your rights and VOTE TODAY!
Here are some numbers and facts you may want to help you along the way:
KNOW YOUR VOTING RIGHTS!
Voting is the most direct way for you to affect your government, so read the list below and be aware of your rights BEFORE you go to the polls. Use this information if you encounter any harassment or intimidation.
1)You are entitled to vote without being harassed or intimidated by anyone.
2)Bring personal ID with you to the polls (Driver's license, government ID, bank statement or utility bill)
3)If you forget your ID, YOU CAN STILL VOTE. (in some states, all you need to do is sign and affadavit. in others, you can vote by provisional ballot.)
4)If records show you have moved, you can vote by signing an address confirmation.
5) If you are in line at the polling place BEFORE THE POLLS CLOSE, you can vote.
6) You have the right to receive a demonstration of voting equipment before voting.
7) If you are disabled, cannot read english or are over the age of 65, you have the right to an accessable polling place and help in voting. If you are 75 or older, you have the right to vote witout waiting in line between the hours of 9:30AM and 4:30PM.
8) Each polling place opens at 7AM and closes at 7PM. In cities with a population of 300,000 or more, polls will remain open until 8PM.
9)If you move to a different county or municipaolity after the 5th Monday prior to Election Day, you have the right to vote in your old precinct.
10) If you make a mistake or spoil your ballot, you have the right to receive a replacement after returning the spoiled ballot to a poll officer.
11) You have the right to wait in line to vote at your polling place without anyone within 150 feet of the polling place or within 150 feet of any voter standing in line electioneering or trying to influence your vote.
12)If you have been convicted of a crime, but have served your sentence, including any period of probation or parole and have registered to vote since that time, you have the right to vote.
13)you have the right to bring your child under the age of 18, or any child under the age of 12, into the voting booth as long as they are not disruptive and do not interfere with the voting machine.
14) You have the right to vote during the work day, two hours as long as you give notice unless you begin work after 9AM or end work two or more hours before polls close.
15) YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO TAKE THIS BILL OF RIGHTS INTO THE VOTING BOOTH WITH YOU.
If anyone challenges your right to vote:
1) Talk to the Voting Rights attorney at your polling place.
2) Ask for the name of the person who is denying you the right to vote and write it down.
3) Ask to talk to a supervisor and lodge a complaint.
4) Call 1-866-OUR-VOTE if you are turned away from voting for any reason. Call if for any reason you need to speak to a lawyer in regards to your vote.
