'Click and read on' time! This was the first single I ever bought, believe it or not, at the age of eight!
Well, I hope I get some more pop recommendations, guys, but this morning is turning out to be a tough one.
My annual review is due soon. I've already pointed out to my Global Manager that I didn't get a review for 08, let alone this year. And work has just been ridiculous since my Line Manager left in the summer. He was never replaced, our weekly meetings stopped, we have no targets, no timeframes, etc, etc.
So I put together an email listing a whole host of issues and fired it off to my GM, basically saying we had a lot of shortcomings, and if he wanted someone to take control of it, I was available and enthusiastic. I had a discussion with one of my Spanish teammates beforehand, and Arturo pointed me towards a draft organisational chart he'd found by chance...and which doesn't have our names on.
And....well, what should you think? It's only a small team detailed there - nowhere near enough to provide a global service. So I'm hoping that it just hasn't been broken down to the regional level yet. It also says that no Lead for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) has been selected, so I'm kind of hinting that it's a role I'd take on.
But it's just horrible at times. You see these things and think 'Where do I fit into all this?' It's all very well thinking you'll get a year's salary if you are made redundant. But what with loans, and so on, that will be gone pretty rapidly, just to clear debts.
So. I've stuck my hand up, said 'this is crap' (albeit in a nicer way), and said give me the job to sort it out. Not sure whether I'm signing my own death warrant here, but it can't go on like this any longer. Quite apart from anything else I am forgetting how to use all the skills I spent three years acquiring.
And now I'll spend the rest of the day quietly sweating. My Global Manager, Philippe, is a nice enough guy (aren't they all?), but I swear he has done nothing in a year to move this team on since our company got taken over. Let's see what response I get.
So what do you do L? Come on, tell us, we're all ears! (reader's voice)
Lean Six Sigma
Bet you wish you hadn't asked now!

But when life seems to be going to hell in a handcart, you know what makes you feel a whole lot better?

I started collecting records at a very young age. I used to drag my dad to the record store at least once a week when I was as young as 8 or 9.
I don't remember what the first record I ever owned was, bur I'm sure it was R&B.
