What a fantastic weekend. I'm sure I could come on here and rant about all sorts of issues to do with money and work. But sometimes life is just really good. My wife and I went with a couple of friends to see Samuel Beckett's 'Waiting for Godot' at the theatre on Saturday. And it was FANTASTIC. Patrick (make it so) Stewart, and Ian 'a wizard is never late, Frodo Baggins' McKellan were just out this world as Vladimir and Estragon, Simon Callow was great as Pozzo, and Ronald Pickup's Lucky was amazingly intense. It was such a funny play too. For all those who think Beckett is just such difficult stuff to deal with, you should have seen this. The slapstick routines, consciously referencing Laurel and Hardy; the dialogue. But also tragic - these two men meeting to wait for someone who will probably never come, day after day, constantly wondering if what happened the day before was real or imagined. It was probably the best theatre I've ever seen in my life - even better than Kenneth Branagh as Richard III. If you are in the UK and can get a ticket (won't be easy), you should: http://www.waitingforgodottheplay.com/home/
And yesterday was a nice relaxing Mother's Day; breakfast in bed for W, and a day spent chilling and cooking a lovely Sunday dinner (my first ever Yorkshire puddings!). And on top of Manchester United losing on Saturday...again.... Manchester City won (YES! - City, Super City, the best team in the land, in all the world!), and Liverpool closed the gap on United too (YES!). Must get to a game before the end of the season.
So that was a good weekend. Now it's back to business plans, trying to stay in a job, trying to prove I can save $19m in three years, analysing statistics, attending pointless meetings, and so on. But hopefully next weekend will be good too. We'll see.
