For the first time, I have experienced root beer. Goldfish was nice enough to buy me a can when she spotted it in a sweet shop during her recent trip to Sydney.
The flavour seems familiar to me, reminiscent of sarsaparilla (which is also used in some forms of root beer), but with hints of vanilla. Very sweet. Absolutely nothing like ginger beer (which is a type of root beer, technically).
This may also be the first product I've had which actually contains the evil "high fructose corn syrup" (HFCS) that makes Americans fat and have heart attacks.
I liked it, but I'd probably prefer a more natural version of the product as this one tasted sugary and HFCS scares the hell out of me.
I understand why North Americans crave the stuff when they visit Australia. Much like real Australians crave vegemite when they're abroad.
Anyway, A++, will drink again! (but, without the HFCS if possible)
