well what a weekend. I went camping with the SCAup in PA since they needed people for marshal (judge/referee) for archery. had a great time seen some old friends and even made a couple new ones. while waiting for feast on saturday night I was just standing around and walked past was this young lady with blonde, pink and blue hair. well first thing came to mind was Squeak from here on SG. I told nina who I thought she was and she was like "go ask her". now mind you I have this big issue with going up to people and just talking with them. so nina took off over her way. sure enough it was Squeak. nina waved Me over and I know I had to be red from embarrasment as well as sun burn ( hopefully the sunburn covered it ) but it was great acutally meeting her.
then sunday I did archery all day and inproved My scores big time. My average is only 43 but I shot a 46, 52 then last rounds I shot a 61. I owe alot the the new equipement cause I think its better suited for target archery.
well I finally done it...... I broke down and bought a Kilt. yes I said KILT!! and its NOT A FUNNY MAN IN A SKIRT!!!! LOL. it was very different wearing it. and for you who are wondering yes I wore it in proper fashion. so
speaking of new equipment..... on the way home I stopped at a yard sale and bought yet another bow. one thing though... it is a brother to the one I just spent a crap load for. and only paid $25 for this one. yet its not in as good condition but still its worth having.
nina got a new kitten last week. have to find the camera and get a pic of it posted ASAP. along with Me in a kilt

I got this in My email today:
MARS SPECTACULAR!
The Red Planet is about to be spectacular! This month and next, Earth is catching up with Mars in an encounter that will culminate in the closest approach between the two planets in recorded history. The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287. Due to the way Jupiter's gravity tugs on Mars and perturbs its orbit, astronomers can only be certain that Mars has not come this close to Earth in the Last 5,000 years, but it may be as long as 60,000 years before it happens again.
The encounter will culminate on August 27th when Mars comes to within 34,649,589 miles of Earth and will be (next to the moon) the brightest object in the night sky. It will attain a magnitude of -2.9 and will appear 25.11 arc seconds wide. At a modest 75-power magnification
Mars will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye. Mars will be easy to spot. At the beginning of August it will rise in the east at 10p.m. and reach its azimuth at about 3 a.m.
By the end of August when the two planets are closest, Mars will rise at nightfall and reach its highest point in the sky at 12:30a.m.! That's pretty convenient to see something that no human being has seen in recorded history. So, mark your calendar at the beginning of August to see Mars grow progressively brighter and brighter throughout the month.
