Temporary host
You say that you love me but I know you don't
You claim it's forever but I can tell you wont
You say that you love me and that you are mine
But as we make slow love you're so pre occupied
With all the men you knew last summer
You called your friends I said "your lovers"
You just pretend that I'm another ghost
So I feel you're just a temporary host.
You whisper you'll always wish to keep me warm
That I'm the umbrella to shield away the storm
You hold me so gently and stare into my face
We huddle together, you're heart is off in space
With all the men you knew last summer
You called your friends I said "your lovers"
You just pretend that I'm another ghost
So I feel you're just a temporary host.
I ponder if sometimes we're just too insecure
I wonder that this time perhaps it will endure
In search of some sunshine but I'm not so sure
Until you're accepting that I can love you more
Then all the men you knew last summer
You called your friends I said "your lovers"
You just pretend that I'm another ghost
So I feel you're just a temporary host.
Foolish
I know a soul cold in the snow
Too much pride to be journeying home
He'll be alone panning for gold
Searching for gems he knows he'll never hold
I know a soul drifting about
Too much pride to be crying it out
She'll be OK that's what she'll say
Making sure her heart is hardly displayed
Think of a fool trying to hide
From all the foolish thoughts he has on his mind
A foolish heart a foolish pride
Do you think it's gonna make any difference
Foolish foolish foolish
I know a place far from it all
Too much space for something so small
It's always cold that's how it goes
When the bed and the bath have nobody home
Think of a fool trying to hide
From all the foolish thoughts she has on her mind
A foolish heart a foolish pride
Do you think it's gonna make any difference
Foolish foolish foolish
I know a tune
Bitter and blue
Sung to a melody of glitterly gloom
Think of some fools trying to hide
From all the foolish thoughts they have on their mind
A foolish heart a foolish pride
Do you think it's gonna make any difference
Foolish foolish foolish
I couldn't chirp a peep (I forgot your telephone number)
I don't wanna wish anymore cause your kisses still ignore me
Now I know I don't need you anymore
I fought the truth cause I needed to believe you
We both knew I was always keeping score
I forgot your telephone number
But I can't say that it's bumming me
I can't say I feel sorry too deep
I can't say I'm hurt that we don't speak
Even when we did I couldn't chirp a peep
I suppose I slipped too hard too fast
Too eager too rushed to stop to gasp
My breathing was fast and off the brink
My thinking was vast and out'a'sync
My temper was lost amongst its tears
I remember claiming I'd love you 99 years
I forgot your telephone number
But I can't say that it's bumming me
I can't say I feel sorry too deep
I can't say I'm hurt that we don't speak
Even when we did I couldn't chirp a peep
I recall a time I know too well
A heaven at times at times a hell
My beliefs were strong but not direct
My relief was love without respect
My temper was lost amongst its tears
I remember claiming I'd love you 99 years
I don't wanna wish anymore cause your kisses still ignore me
Now I know I don't need you anymore
I fought the truth cause I needed to believe you
We both knew I was always keeping score
I forgot your telephone number
But I can't say that it's bumming me
I can't say I feel sorry too deep
I can't say I'm hurt that we don't speak
Even when we did I couldn't chirp a peep
Lemon girl
Hey lemon girl, wont you take me to your world
To the place you escape when you're life don't treat you great
You can share what you dare or we can just go off and stare
HEY lemon girl I wanna dance you for a whirl
So loosen up and let your lips unseal
CUZ lemon girl you're gonna want me in your world
So pucker up and show me some appeal
Hey lemon girl, with your eyes of bluish pearls
In their hue I see through to the inner core of you
In they're light I just might see a thousand shades of bright
HEY lemon girl I wanna dance you for a whirl
So loosen up and let your lips unseal
CUZ lemon girl you're gonna want me in your world
So pucker up and show me some appeal
Hey lemon girl, gosh you spin me in a twirl
Like a top never stops when the friction gets to hot
We can lie side by side and let our conscience be our guide
HEY lemon girl I want to dance you for a whirl
So loosen up and let your lips unseal
CUZ lemon girl you're gonna want me in your world
So pucker up and show me some appeal
Hey lemon girl, yeah you got my heart unfurled
I was wound till I found that I want your arms around
My strong back I'm a cat who'll gladly pet you back
Limes are green lemons are sour, but you're so sweet
Gimmie lips gimmie kisses tangy to eat
Hey lemon girl, gees I'm in a tongue-tied swirl
If you hear that I'm sincere then my nervousness is fear
If I'm bold n' you're not sold then over look what I've just told
Rabbits hop to it
Grandma went out
On a date in a horse and carriage
She turned out good
She had no sex until after marriage
She told my ma
Her wifely duty was hers to cherish
All talk of that
Kinda got the ole gal embarrassed
Mommy and daddy tell your boys and girls
'Bout the bad things that happen in the world
You mustn't depend they already know the rules
Somebody should tell um the precautions they should use
Well go ahead and do it damn it
Rabbits just hop to it
Standing still is never moving
Rabbits just hop to it
Mother dated in a forty-four ford
They just held hands though they both wanted more
All of her friends were so easily led
But they made love when they were legally wed
Mommy and daddy tell your boys and girls
'Bout the bad things that happen in the world
You mustn't depend they already know the rules
Somebody should tell um the precautions they should use
Well go ahead and do it damn it
Rabbits just hop to it
Standing still is never moving
Rabbits just hop to it
Sister went out
On a date in a silver corvette
They kissed goodnight
On top of a lighted doorstep
They went steady
Making love was a nightly habit
She took a test
And found out something killed the rabbit
Putt-Putt
I miss you when you're so far away
We talk all night but what could we say
That could quench the desire we share
'Till we're together and letting it bare
You know what I'm wanting to do
I know you're wanting to too
I don't wanna play Putt-Putt
But but I wanna see you
I don't wanna play ping-pong
Too long I wanna hold you
So when I hear the phone ring
Asking what we can do
I don't wanna play Putt-Putt
But but I wanna see you
This is the east coast calling you back
My voice is hoarse and starting to scratch
I keep repeating, "hurry on home"
"You're not enough in touch on the phone"
I know what you're wanting to do
You know I'm wanting to too
I don't wanna play Putt-Putt
But but I wanna see you
I don't wanna play ping-pong
Too long I wanna hold you
So when I hear the phone ring
Asking what we can do
I don't wanna play Putt-Putt
But but I wanna see you
Although the west coast is treating you great
I need you now and you mustn't be late
Just tell the pilot to fly to the sound
Of my heart as it putters around
