I have been super busy at work training 2 new hellions. Finally amoment's peace. I just wanted to vent about my newest outrage.
There's an old joke. A man is at his house and his neighbor pulls up and says, "there's going to be a flood. Come with me and I'll drive you to safety" And the man says, "God will take care of me"
The rain starts and there's 3ft of water and a guy comes by in a rwoboat and tells the man he's going to help him. And the man says, "God will take care of me"
The water keeps rising and the man is forced to sit on his roof and a helicopter comes by and lowers a ladder. And the man says, "God will take care of me"
So the water continues to rise and the man drowns. He gets to Heaven and he asks God, Why didn't you save me?" and God says, "I sent your neighbor, I sent a boat, I sent a helicopter..."
Anyway, I saw this woman on tv who had a baby, from a 13 year old frozen embryo. She was talking about how god wanted her to have a baby. But get this. she was infertile. she almost died during recent fertility treatments, and the fertility lab where her embryos were stored, the doctor was selling the embryos on the black market. I'm thinking God really didn't want her ot have a baby and put every obstacle in her path. did I mention this was her fifth child? I kind of get why childless couples want to have fertility treatments, but if you have 4 kids, you should be able to make do.
I actually do not see the point of fertility treatment when there are tons of perfectly good kids lying around without homes. don't tell my wife, but we're going to get ourselves some dirty little street urchin on day. I'm not making any new babies, but I fully intend to adopt some fucked up little bad ass. My dog was a stray and he kicks so much ass. Plus if my kid ever screws up, I can always blame his biological parents, or society. I can blame society, too.
And I just saw, "Closer" on Pay per view. UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLE. Even with Julia Roberts. And note to Natalie Portman. "YOU'RE A STRIPPER! TAKE YOUR TOP OFF!"

by & by, you're right - not enough people adopt. i'm all for technological progress and what it can do to make the world a better place. and i can *understand* why a couple would want their old child, or why a woman would want to carry their own child. there are affective and logical reasons why we could see this. but i DO think people could stand to be a bit more open minded...
