Holy catfish, I don't think I've gone that long without updating in almost two years! I just got back from a busy Easter week-end with family and friends. I've over-fed, sleep-deprived, and am ready to collapse on the couch. But before I completely flake out into la-la-land, here are a few notes of interest:
1) My friends still don't know whats going on with their mother, as she continues to fight psychiatric treatment. They suspect she is suffering from a chemical imbalance that can be treated, but until she accepts professional help, her condition remains a mystery. Some of the major disorders such as schizophrenia have been ruled out, so I'm praying to God that whatever it is, can be controlled.
2) The mass resume distirubtion campaign begins this week! I'm revising my c/v and compiling a list of companies I can apply to, in order to promote myself as a researcher/assistant producer. I'm not expecting an amazing opportunity to fall into my lap overnight, but I can't expect any positive career change if I don't get up off my arse and do something about it. Knowing I'm making a genuine effort to pave a different pathway will keep me from falling into a self-pitying slump, even I don't get immediate results.
3) I tackled my first 5.10 at the climbing gym last week, it was fucking glorious! My entire body was convulsing by the time I finished, but I was too happy to care.
4) My colleague thinks I should start running 3 times per week to improve my cardiio for climbing. He says I'm the type of person to do it, and that I just have to train myself to get up early. I don't think he realizes how much of a nocturnal creature I am. I have no problem staying up late, it's getting up in the morning that has always been problematic. But like he said, people can change thier habits, and if I actually made an effort to get to bed at a decent time every night, waking up early wouldn't feel like such a death sentence. Tell me I can discipline myself...
5) I have a friend who thinks I should find an arts publication to write for. Since graduating with my fine art degree three years ago, I've dreamn't of contributing to a magazine on a volunteer basis, but was never sure about my writing skills. What do you think, is it worth a try?
6) Without liquids, it could take Terry Schiavo two to four weeks to die from dehydration. For the love of God, somebody please step in and end it for this woman now! I completely agree with pulling the tube, but forcing this individual to suffer from gradual starvation is truely inhumane! I can't stand listening to all the controversy surrounding this case anymore, I just want to see this poor woman pass with some dignity.
My heart and love is with you all. I look forward to getting up with your journals again.
