In the last little while I've done little to bolster my reputation as secret agent for P.A.R.T.Y. and have few of the usual culinary, existential, and just plain rock 'n roll stories to share like I usually do.
Of course, like all things this will soon pass, as I'm going to be on a practically non-stop adventure of a) discovering a new city b) finding a job while not having much in the savings dept c) finding a desirable apartment at a price I can afford. So you'll have to bear with me through these leaner times.
This month involves tying up all the loose ends from the past 7 years of my life, packing up most of my possessions and shipping them off to my family's house, working all I can so that I'll have money for Montreal, (if the other day was any indication) having lots of sex, and trying to re-organize everything in my life. Oh yeah.
I have been reading however.. but mostly comics (new Grant Morrison stuff, and more recently Mark Millar's the Ultimates) as well as books on psychology (Hakomi therapy) and books on finance.
The books on finance are especially interesting because they're really making me change the way I approach money - I'm becoming aware of all the times I'd spend on impulse to make myself feel better, throw away my bank slip before looking at it out of fear, my subconscious hesitance to do my taxes, etc, The books are Your Money or Your Life and Rich Dad, Poor Dad. I'd recommend reading Your Money or Your Life to anyone who's not entirely on top of their finances. (which is most of us right?) It's not just about money really, but also leading a better life.. I'm might put a more detailed analysis up later.
Also trying to finish the incredibly dense Getting Things Done which is about making sure the way you complete activities is always in a continuous flow state. Since almost every page pretty much requires a perceptual shift and quite different change in your day to day activities it's harder to get through than the densest Lacan-esque philosophy. For me, anyways.
Today I'll be writing some more film scripts/drafts and going to see the much-anticipated Sin City. Oh yes.
