In an effort to transcend the quotidian banalities of existance one must be prepared to indulge in a variety of techniques - play, liquor, sex, drugs, philosophy, art, action & sorcery.
But what path to follow?
Should we be (sub)geniuses together with Bob Dobbs?
Run with Eris as she lobs a golden apple marked Kallisti like a ba-bomb into a bevy of beauties?
Jitterbug to the anarcho-sufism of Bey's Immediatism?
Become a philosopher-gourmand under the watchful eyes of Fourier's 12 Passions and Brillat-Savarin's school of taste? Will the ocean turn to lemonade?
How about enrolling in the Masons? Or one of America's underground churches.. like the Church of John Coltrane or the Moorish Orthodox Church?
Stop fence sitting and switch teams to join the Order of Chaerona?
Embrace the entirety of Korzybski's general semantics and speak only in E-prime?
Or take the rationalist approach under Fuller's brand of design science futurism?
Perhaps retire to the East - following lost ideals In the Shadow of Leaves and the Book of Five Rings?
Embrace Crowley's Magick and cast spells, commit sorcery and follow the Book of the Law?
There's always fiction - Burroughs' philosophy of the "Do-Easy" .. be a Johnson today!
Always the potential to subsume oneself to post-modern philosophers of stasis and intertia - there's plenty of intellectual debate if little food for the soul in Cioran & Baudrillard.
Do the reverse of "go native" and go extraterrestial a la Sun Ra - form your own intergalactic jazz band and cosmic mythology? Or the more pessimistic industrial landscape of Porridge's Psychic TV?
What to do?
Start your own tong, cult, band, Invisible cell?
Found Miskatonic University?
Enjoy the extraordinary popular delusion of solipsism?
Or become a Buddhist and quell all forms of desire?
*****************************
The sorcerer is a Simple Realist: the world is real--but then so must consciousness be real since its effects are so tangible. The dullard finds even wine tasteless but the sorcerer can be intoxicated by the mere sight of water. Quality of perception defines the world of intoxication--but to sustain it & expand it to include others demands activity of a certain kind--sorcery. Sorcery breaks no law of nature because there is no Natural Law, only the spontaneity of natura naturans, the tao. Sorcery violates laws which seek to chain this flow-- priests, kings, hierophants, mystics, scientists & shopkeepers all brand the sorcerer enemy for threatening the power of their charade, the tensile strength of their illusory web.
