What have I been doing lately? Thank you for imaginarily asking.
This morning I broke a brand new skipping rope after a grand total of two jumps. That's literally how long it lasted. Perhaps the recently re-emerging Chinese sun is giving me Kal-El-esque powers? So I purchased a new one - green, instead of red. It had a little jump-counter in the handle. After about 15 seconds of test jumping I'd apparently skipped 66 times. So either I'm the next Superman or my cardio-vascular exercise routine has fallen victim to demonic possession.
I've been trying to get ready for my travels in Spain in May. I'll be doing a 800km or so walk/hike that takes place over 30-35 days, so I'm trying to get my body ready for that, especially my feet. I'm experimenting with the Vibram Fivefingers KSO Trek, we'll see how that goes. Then I'm off to Dublin for Bloomsday, for which I'm still trying to recruit people to the cause.
Otherwise I've been reading my way through Ulysses, quite enjoyable. Listening to the relevant material on Ulysses for each chapter from the Teaching Company's series on the book before reading said chapter. I'm finding the method superb.
I've been eating well, exercising more than average, and drinking tons of Ceylon Tea and Yerba Mate (toasted).
I'm also on the lookout for people I may know currently living in or visiting Spain, Dublin, London, Paris and Edinburgh for potential meetups and mutual excellence.
What I should be doing that I'm not:
- finishing podcasts
- writing more
- trying to find higher paying freelance teaching work
- more learning of Mandarin / Spanish
- getting out of the house with friends to take photos
- kicking ass and the general taking of names
- playing mah-jongg
