Veni Vici Vedi. So sayeth Rocket from the Tombs.. who I saw last night in Vancouver. My ears are still ringing from the sonic greatness. The world will not be the same.. rock'n roll has rarely been so rock'nroll.
Dave Thomas sweated on me. I shook his hand. Yes.
I also dined at the fab. Gypsy Rose, and savored an amaing egglant, cheese, and tomato crepe. The finest. And for me!
I also went shopping at Zulu Records.. purchasing Don Cherry "Orient", John Zorn "Spy Vs. Spy", Os Mutantes "Technicolor", u-ziq vs. the auteurs, Kids from Widney High "Special Music for Special Kids", Ganelin Trio "15-year reunion", Magma "Mekanik Kommandoh" & the Rocket from the Tombs "Rocket Redux" (the new touring band's) cd at the show. Richard's on Richards. Another great Vancouver venue.. fuck! Every venue in that city is gold.
This week brings the Hidden Cameras (Frog Eyes opening!) and 94 year old Alberta Slim "King of Yodeling" who I interviewed for an hour today.
Otherwise I've been reading Mishima, and Guy Maddin's "From the Atelier Tovar" (I love Guy Maddin!).
Homework, schmomwork.
I must eat delicacies, dream like a runaway train, get intoxicated on wine, poetry and virtue as I please and bathe in art's rich purple blood.
There is nothing else.
Except love. Which will come. Like a thunderbolt unexpected.
