Lots of nice messages from Leningrad, Les, Flux, Lotus, Ophelia, et al. Thanks!
I've got over the embarrassment of my last weekend and think I'm on top of things. Well, some. (not school anyways)
So today I mostly just hung out at the radio station and did a group presentation in my Kafka class. Got into a long discussion on music w/ L. from Ditch Records. That was nice.
I came home and then cooked up a HUGE version of baked mac and cheese. Don't be fooled, it a gourmet recipe, which involves a roux, vetegable mix, topping, and of course, baking. Leave my roomies to tend to the taking out of the oven (which they marvellously did) I ran off to bowl with radio cohorts. I got 2nd place in my first game and 1st in the 2nd game. Get that? Good.
I'm almost done reading Guy Maddin's book "From the Atelier Tovar" which is quite enjoyable. Mostly journals and a few non-fiction pieces.. we seem alike in many ways. When I'm done I'll have to review that, the Martin Rev cd, that Blue Note DVD, the latest Madlib, the Blue Series Continuum, Diana Darby, etc. I was going to link to my Unicorns piece & cd review, but they didn't run it this week.. maybe next week.
Exciting music coming up! Tomorrow I interview (and will see on the 30th) 94 year old Alberta Slim "the King of Yodelling". His cd is great.. super yodelling in the old country vein. Niceness.
Then I run errands and than off to Vancouver.. visit with my man D. and m y friend S. Have some fun in Vancouver and of course see ROCKET FROM THE TOMBS!!! My reason for going over. Plentiful pictures will be. (Yoda-diction baby!) My friend Laura in LA said they were amazing!
Next week also brings the Frog Eyes/Hidden Cameras show, along with the showing of Cremaster 2, which I'm very excited about. I also found out that Philip Glass will be playing here early next year.. nifty.
If only my loan would come in, and I could finish my schoolwork.. then things would be uber-great.
And if love fell into my lap, well that wouldn't be so shitty either.
