Lately I've been taking a breather and enjoying the humble pleasures of an old man. Summertime pleasures.
Sitting on the balcony with apricot beer reading a book or four, lazing about in the sun in the parc, going on slow derive-sque meandering bike rides, eating a lovely homecooked meal, and writing a lot more. Working up storyboards, and sketching out plans for a million and one projects - (having too many projects is a classic LK achilles heel) - including photos, films, blogs, books, and an online tv show. More on that soon.
But I am, of course, still myself. I saw Jandek (music geek alert) live.. which was disappointing and pretty much thoroughly terrible - he was on stage with a group of Mtl improvisers. I caught the Ex also and Simply Saucer.. the Ex still rocked light the punks they are, but Saucer got too old and had that middle age bloated bar band feel - too bad their one and only album is like a black razor and may be the greatest Canadian rock album ever made. (Cyborgs Revisited - check it out)
I've been reading books on flow, physical theatre, Feldenkrais method (a kind of series of physical activities that increase awareness of the body/creativity), on doing nothing/slacking, Taoist sexual technique, and zen buddhism. Also a fantastic novel called "the Hearing Trumpet" by little known British surrealist (sort of) painter / novelist Leonara Carrington, who lived in Mexico most of her life and whose work is reminiscient of her good friend Remedios Varo. A very intellectual Borgesian kind of surrealism both in her paintings and written work. Fantastic novel.
Otherwise Montreal is insanely hot - 38 degrees (100 Fahrenheit) yesterday with the humidex, I feel like I'm in Cuba, with a constant need for powerful mixed drink and zesty flavors.
News in brief:
- going to France in the fall
- former SG members recognizing me on other websites (!) and trying to go out with me (somewhat succesfully)
- hitting museums with girls and friends
- went to this insane all-out 1000 person block party in my hood, djed by Ghislain Poirier for St. Jean Baptiste
- having great difficulty with two specific mini-games on Rayman's Raving Rabbits on Wii
- flirting like a madman
- planning my first tattoo
- djing at a Zak's party

And by the way, I love Ambrosio--is that the apricot beer to which you were referring? That stuff's like moonbeams and fizzywhigs.
