Normally you wouldn't be treated to a half-drunk Lemonkid wrapped in a haze of warm and blankets but tonight you get something special. Fatigue is pummeling me like a man running through the jungle being pummeled by coconuts by monkeys - but I will brave it by that old Zen mantra of dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge.
After a quick week of hiatus on awesome after returning from my BC vacation, now I'm back in the thick of things.. where.. dare I say it ? I belong.
If I could distill my own psychic effluvium from the previous several days and bottle it I could hook the world on its Ubermenschen energy drink.
To avoid going overboard on the verbiage I will summarize in list form:
- drinking toasts to Buckley's cough syrup while downing Jager shots
- running into a hundred old friends
- seeing 7 bands (Zoobombs, the Hot Springs, the Mongrels, the Winks, Thundrah, the Nymphets, the Captains, Shapes and Sizes)
- having poutine with a gravy that has Jack Daniels in it
- going to a lovely potluck (for those who don't know me that well I became a champion potlucker in my earlier drunken, fun -loving, running for mayor Victoria glory days.. fortunately i'm still in my glory days) bringing mead, a speciality sparkling apple cider and a blackberry pie which although bought garnered me comparisons to God
- reveling in the yuppie snooty side of old Montreal made bearable only by fine company and the most delicious of scotchs
- being one of the few people in my company not to fall on there ass on an ice slip
- the crowded all night party that is Nuit blanche
- going to a play
- being given a lollipop by a girl after a trans-city snowball fight
- careening down a 150 metre luge like ice run using only my wits and the flimsiest of plastic sleds and winning a bottle of booze by forfeit because of it
- finally having my handmade Syrian inlaid rosewood and mother of pearl backgammon board delivered
- picking up Apollonaire and early New Orleans jazz records at a used bookstore
- finally deciding on the name of my top secret online TV project
- seeing a new exihibit at the contemporary art museum
- not getting home until 3:30 am, 6:00 am, and 1:30 am respectively
- getting a hand massage
- lovely and lengthy discussions on art, love, and cuisine
- a decisive thumb war victory
- many sock-related compliments from beautiful women
- witnessing a cocktail made with an orchid in it
- realizing that pre-school teacher tactics are the most effective ways of keeping a large group of people together in a large crowd
- having my ass repeatedly slapped
- enjoying free drinks, sandwiches, hand massages, light shows, concerts, art shows, etc
Indeed quite pleasurable all around. Once again building delicious momentum.
