And I'm back from camping with my father and sister at Miracle Beach. Lovely sun, lovely sand.
Feels like burning though. That would be my legs which hurta witha sunburna. No gooda.
We hit 2 amazing restaurants though.. the Rod and Gun club in Parksville.. where I had bacon wrapped scallops in a orange cream sauce with dutch style potatoes and veggies. Mmm. Then chocolate orange cheesecake.. divine!
The next night we went to the Beehive Cafe and Restaurant where I had an even (believe it or not) better meal! It was steak, salmon, halibut, and an oyster all done seperately but served together. Called the "Surf and Turf" The sauce for the oyster was a sensation!!! And drown it down with Shaftsbury's Honey Pale Ale and finish it all off with NY style cheesecake with fresh strawberry. OMG. Delightful!
The scenery was nice, and spending time with the family ok. I always feel slightly ill at ease when visiting any family other than my grandparents. Weird. Dunno why.
I read some of 'Death in Venice', perfect beach story for perfect beach reading, and scoped out the beach kids. Made me feel like a dirty lil' degenerate. Yup. Also thinking (admittedly a bit too obssesively) about the girl who I have a crush on who's in Toronto.
The DVD of the Puppet Films of Jiri Trnka came while I was gone.. so I'll watch that this weekend before we show it for the film club. And I must write my paper on Nazi aesthetics.
All the best to your poor people out in California.. you have a full-on 3 ring circus on your hands.. sorry.. but its gonna be fun to watch from the sidelines.
That's all for now kids.
oh wait!
ps. Bryn you're welcome! I'm glad you like the shirt me matey!! Time to hoist the Jolly Roger!
