UPDATE -
Hmm.. The potluck was so-so. A few people showed up, but it wasn't that great. I need to learn my lesson already and stop trying to organize things.. they're always disasters.
The Beef Wellington was good. The Baked Alaska didn't make it. Wish topbanana was here.. blasted meringue! My friend L said oh.. while I'm doing this just fold in the yolks to the whites.. I didn't think this was right and said so, but deferred to her as I'd been into the wine already - mistake. Always trust your own gut kids.
Lumiere.. bah. They have that crap tv chef.. how I hate him and his show. Bah. The BMJ gig? I don't know.. it was not the early Rolling Stones/Iggy and the Stooges I was told to expect. It was lighter poppier Californian rock.. which is good, but not what I was looking for. As for the guys I mentioned.. I recommend you check out the excellent 3 cd compilation OHM: the early gurus of electronic music. It gathers a lot of rare material by great early people.. an essential primer into these things.
Bryn.. wish you were at the potluck to spice things up pirate style. Valkyrie is ob. the best choice. Loot and plunder.
Ava.. thanks. I'm big on the pic myself. Makes memories of the place feel better than most of them are.

Thanks to SuicideGirls, yours truly has set up a concert by Diana Darby for next month in my own hometown. Sweet stuff. Check her out on www.dianadarby.com. Kinda like Edith Frost meets Gillian Welch. Good stuff.
Otherwise I have not been up to much, though I have my potluck tomorrow (!) and plans to potentially go see 'Swimming Pool' by Francois Ozon in the near future.
Today I bought "My Life in the Bush of Ghosts" by Brian Eno and David Byrne. Excellent album.
I also got a copy of Celine's "Death on the Installment Plan" which I plan on reading soon.. looks super sweet. I also picked up the Residents 'Third Reich 'n Roll' because I'm going to do a presentation on Nazi symbolism in music for my Aesthetics of National Socialism course.
The potluck has kind of a JFK theme.. Beef Wellington and Baked Alaska are planned.
Should be a hot time.
