Higher education is like a motherfucking black hole. Just when I'm comfortable living the non-student life, being an elegant bachelor with complete control over my own destiny my friend's like "hey.. I can offer you an M.A. research fellowship with large subsidies and a travel fund! And it's not even in your previous field which you're bored of! So you'd better get your shit together!"
And I'm all like "oh shit! here we go again." The nice things about stuff like that is they immediate galvanize you into action.. so I'm already cutting back on the procrastinating and streamlining the glorious slack I was rolling around in.
Which means that I'll likely be back in school this summer picking up the necessary credits I need to be eligible for the fellowship. Fortunately it seems I'll be able to do it remotely and I won't have to retreat to the barren wilderness of Ontario, where the university in question is located.
Historically I'm a sucker for large entities who want to pay me to travel all over the place pummelling the world into shape.. and it has been a little while since I've done that. I'd just seen Syriana and was thinking.. hmm.. I should get back into that old politics game.. and now.. here we go.
The new apartment in excellent and living on my own gives me wonderful peace of mind. i just received a shipment of most of my old kitchen stuff from my father, so now I have all my favorites pots and things, my stereo, and a deadly array of knives.
I've also been making some headway in artistic endeavours, largely due to my current uncluttered lifestyle. 2006 bodes well for music, film, decor, and sartorial excellence.
It's nice to have a purpose you can slam dunk into oblivion while jetsetting and being generally fantastic. It's what I was made for.
Gimme danger little stranger
And I feel with you at ease
Gimme danger little stranger
And I feel your disease
There's nothing in my dreams
Just some ugly memories
Kiss me like the ocean breeze

legionnaire:
So what's the MA going to be in?

Well, the art they were selling wasn't all that hot, so you didn't miss much. But you should come to the open mic night if you can. That'll be sexy.
