I GOT THE JOB!! Well, actually, I got all of which I applied for, I came back to the UK with messages on my phone, all agents chasing me for start dates and salary requests. At long last I feel good that I won't be confined to a life of making do on a temps pay cheque (which was getting rather skinny compared to my credit card - oops!) Typical, I wait for months to get a permanent job, then three come along at once. I just hope that I picked the best one. It's a step up for me as it's a co-ordination role, rather than just a straight forward admin post. It's still office work, but until Thorntons offers me a job as their chief chocolate tester, than I guess I am stuck this way!
My holiday was fab. Lanzarote is such a beautiful island, a dreamy blackened moonscape, with huge volcanos, and cobolt blue waters all around. If that is, you choose to explore the island rather than just coating yourself in Ronseal wood stain and laying on the sun lounger desperatly attempting to get the "Brit Abroad" tan.
Unfortunately, we did end up staying in the main resort, which as we feared was full of "international" pubs and clubs. Which means you might as well hang a Union Jack outside, and have a neon sign saying "We are a BRITISH pub, no foreign beer or food aloud". However, we found several beautiful resturants in the old town, I learnt some Spanish, and am going to start taking lessons, and we hired a convertible (I've never been in one before) and explored the island in style. All this, without wearing a football shirt or getting my tits out in the town.
Sad to be back in the UK - but happy that I have a new job, and plenty of honey rum to keep the holiday spirit alive!
