3 to 4 tart apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced or use 1 (20 oz.) can pie sliced apples, drained (3 cups)
3 c. tart cherries or 1 (20 oz.) can cherry pie filling
3/4 c. sugar
2 tbsp. all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
Dash ground nutmeg
Dash salt
Pastry for 2 crust 9 inch pie
2 tbsp. butter
Combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Mix with apples, add cherries and fold in. Line 9 inch pie pan with pastry. Fill with apple-cherry mixture. Dot with butter. Adjust top crust, cutting slits for escape of steam. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 400 degrees until done, about 50 minutes. If necessary cover edge with foil to prevent over browning.
