Well. Where do I start.
We get to Portland and find the place where Potential is supposed to be pretty easily. There's a huge line to get in, so we start waiting. We wait for over 2 hours. We celebrated new years next to a bus stop.
During our waiting we meet up with other rave kids from Eugene (Candyman, Maybelle, Amber, etc.) We also find out that the reason no one was getting in was because the fire marshal cut the total capacity in half since they only had 2 exits.
After we'd been in line for about an hour and a half we were right up front since most of the people in line before us gave up and left. The man in charge at the door told us that for every 2 people that left, he'd let 1 person in.
At this point we decided to try to find the other rave that was supposed to be going on in Portland. Someone called a friend with internet access who then looked up this other rave, but it turns out they only listed an email address, not a phone number or address. Shortly after this the fire marshal comes out of the building and tells us he's shutting the rave down (it's 1:00am at this point). I gave one of the girls I'd been talking to in line my number in case she found anything.
We heard from someone else that there was a huge house party somewhere on Killingsworth, so we drive all the way over there and didn't find anything. After that I called the girl from the line and she said they'd found a party at someone's house on Milwaukee, so we drove there.
Finally, a party! We hung out with people, danced to house music, played drums in the basement, and smoked an INSANE amount of pot. All in all, it was good times. We hung out there for about 2 hours or so but we were all really hungry so we headed home and stopped at a Denny's along the way. I fell asleep in the car and went to bed when we got home.
All in all, New Years Eve sucked, but at least it had an ok ending.

Agreed on the alcohol at raves....just makes it weird, like a bar. I like bars and I like raves...but two different things!
