Faith: Jesus of Suburbia
Chapter One: The Demons In Your Soul
Faith Lehane stood in front of the mirror in her hotel room, straight blade razor in hand, fully intending to take her life, she had lost her friendship with Angel, who had since moved to Scotland to be with Buffy once more, and now, it appeared she had nothing left, finally, her history of evil deeds had came full circle, unceremoniously biting her in the ass, and leaving her with one option.
Looking into the mirror, all she could see was the ugliness inside and it sickened her, literally. She vomited into the nearby urinal, before righting herself again, and once more looking into the mirror, the tears now streaming down her face. Did she really want to do this? Was this really the only way?
Looking down at the blade, it shined sickeningly in the yellowish light of the bathroom, blinding her already half shut eyes at one point, this was the thing that was going to end it all for her, all her years of suffering, the pain inside herself, and here, in her right hand, was her saviour. Without hesitation, she dragged it across one wrist, feeling the pain as the blade sunk into her flesh, drawing a red line behind it, faint at first, then growing in colour as the blood began to spill down her hand, dripping on the floor. Then, she followed with the other wrist, looking down at them, the slits seemed to smile at her, as if gratified that they had finally got their wish.
As the dripping grew more often and Faith began to get dizzy, she also began to panic, this wasn’t what she wanted at all, and now she realised it, but, she was too late, falling to the floor, she passed out, the blood now beginning to pool around her.
Faith woke up in a place that could only be described as hell, and she chuckled, how many times did she say she was going to wind up here? Probably once, if not twice a day, mostly in jest, but she firmly believed in what she was saying, and this made her laugh even louder, the deed had been done, she was now dead, all her pain and suffering on Earth were over and it was now time to potentially suffer a lot more suffering, however, there was that plan she had where she would take over hell and kick the Devil out, now, that could be fun to look forward to.
Walking around the rocky landscape and watching as bodies burned on great spikes, the flames licking at their charred remains, unrelenting, even after the person had long since perished, was this the fate left for Faith as well? She disagreed, she was gonna put a lot more fight into it than these sad bastards would, that much, she was certain of.
That thought had about five seconds to live however as a booming voice could be heard above her, and as Faith looked up, there was a black demon, easily a hundred foot tall, standing above her, suddenly, she felt very small, in both ways.
“So, Faith, you believe you can take over this place, this was what you wanted was it? To kill yourself like the cowardly bitch that you are, then try to take over hell itself, you’re pathetic”
With this, he reached his hand down and flicked her deftly into a rock, shattering a few ribs in the process, she winced in pain, coughing up blood, she managed to pull herself to her feet, desperate in the thought that this thing would not have it’s way with her, she stood steadfast in front of it.
“Do you think that really hurt? That is nothing that I haven’t had before, hell, I’ve been stabbed more times than you’ve punished Hitler you bastard”
As Faith defiantly spoke, the demon laughed, before a flick of his hand left her completely naked, standing in front of him, trying desperately to cover herself up, great, raped by a demon, not the experience Faith really wanted to feel right now. Thank God, that wasn’t what was on the demons’ mind. He just wanted to show her exactly why she would fit right in in this horrible place of desolation and suffering.
“You, you pathetic stain on life, are nothing more than a demon yourself, the pain you caused to the people around you when you were alive was immeasurable, did you really think that you would be forgiven just because you redeemed yourself by helping Angel and Buffy, did you seriously believe that you had tipped the scales back in your favour?”
Faith began to cry, this thing in front of her was right, and he had also managed to strip her of her dignity, and had also hurt her, physically and mentally, in the space of two minutes. Begging it to stop, she fell to her knees, no longer bothering to try and cover herself up.
“You are the very thing you claim to have been fighting so long”
As he said this, Faiths’ back tore open down the spine, sending her into waves of agony as the tears continued to spill down her face. She tried to feel her back as it tore, getting only handfuls of blood, she wondered if there was any way she could die from this, but deep down, she knew that wasn’t the case, she was just going to have to put up with this, so much for taking over.
From out of the gaping hole that used to be her back, a giant, black pair of wings unfolded and the demon laughed, fully relishing what he was seeing, this bitch had been broken, and after being cocky for so long.
Then, something strange happened, the wings, rather than tormenting her, folded around her body, and as she fell to one knee, the wings wrapped themselves around her, as if a parent making sure their child was wrapped up nice and tight for bedtime, and Faith actually disappeared inside the wings momentarily. The demon in front of her started to look on with concern, this wasn’t usually what happened, this vision was supposed to torment people, not ensure their protection. Then, Faith stood up, her eyes glaring red.
Walking toward the demon, she began to laugh, first quietly, before turning into a full blown laugh of madness, her wings now stretched out, exposing her body again, which had appeared to have taken on the density and appearance of stone, it was as if she was a gargoyle, a living, breathing gargoyle with only bad thoughts on its’ mind.
“Oh dear, looks like you may have underestimated this demon, as you so vehemently liked to call me, and now, just like in my plans, now I take over”
She laughed evilly, before taking flight, whizzing and whooping around the demon with alarming speed, landing punches and kicks onto it’s rapidly bruising body, she had the superhuman strength associated with a slayer, and now had also seemed to have a very good power up in the shape of a nice looking pair of wings, and the demon was now feeling it. She then flew into its’ prone back, burrowing her way through into its’ inside, before shooting out of the front, akin a tiny little female alien from that small time Ridley Scott film, a massive smile on her face, and covered in blood, and then the demon fell to the rocks, dead.
As she landed, Faith admired her wings, but then, things went a little fuzzy….
