Ok, so half of my friends list has gone grey... What did I say?!
Didn't go to D.E.P. on Thurs- realised I had a lesson at 9.15 on Friday morning I hadn't prepared for. Didn't actually do any preparation in the end, but I did get some much-needed sleep and talked to Amanda online. Got to the lesson and discovered it was on something I'd prepared last month anyway, so I could've probably gone out, come home, spoken to Amanda AND been prepared for the lesson... meh.
Had a little corridor party last night, just because it's sunny at last. We lit up the bbq we built in September, opened the homebrew that one of the guys had made this week and then headed off to a student union for a boogie. The place was pretty empty, esp. when we got there, but it gave me plenty of room to go crazy, 'cos they were playing awesome stuff like Joy Division, The Ramones, Interpol, The Cure etc. Wasn't expecting to enjoy myself but I actually had a good time.
Discovered that the guy that lives across the corridor from me that I thought was coming on to me is gay and therefore most probably has been. That sounds kinda arrogant, but it kinda makes sense. I guess it's nice to get some attention, even if it's not from a girl. I have no plans to reciprocate the attention, though. By attention, I mean attention and not a euphemism for sexual activity. Just so we're clear here.
In my emotional fragility, I have decided to grow a beard. The logic being that I look pretty rough with a beard, so it generally spurs off any female attention and by the same token, while I'm not getting any attention, why don't I make the most of the opportunity to grow a nice meaty beard?! Got about 2 weeks' growth going on now... Might get crafty with a razorblade and at least make it look tidy, but I quite like the unkempt look too. Current plan is to keep the beard until May, just to see what it looks like after a month
In a strange contrast to this lacklustre towards my personal appearance, I've also been going to the gym quite a lot recently. When I started working out in December, I could do about 20 press-ups and then I was done; am now up to about 40. My stamina's increasing, my arms don't look quite so feable as they did, and I'm generally finding a nice outlet for months of angst and pain. I kinda wish I'd been doing this in September-- perhaps I would've enjoyed this year a little more. The gym back in Hull costs quite a lot, but I'm beginning to see the value of it, so I may well cough up for it next year-- just hope this health kick lasts long enough to make the investment worthwhile.

Oddly enough, my favorite airport is Detriot.
(stop laughing)
Detriot is new, sleek, clean without seeming painfully sterile. Its design is sleek without being stark -- lots of natural rock, and sheets of steel. And, best of all, they have tons of vegetarian food. My only problem with it is that they don't serve alcohol before noon on Sundays (some kind of state law?) but apparently that's not an issue for most people.
I like your taste in music. Have you heard the new Ben Folds?
