Left my room at 7pm(CET), took the bus to the airport and stood around for 20 minutes before the check-in desk opened, then waited 2 hours in a departure lounge which features a giftshop with no duty-free, a poorly-stocked bookshop/newsagent, and an over-priced cafeteria. 10 minutes before the plane is supposed to leave, we're told we'll leave 90 minutes later than scheduled, because of fog in London.
Arrived at London Stansted at 12.30(GMT) instead of 11.00, waited 1/2hour for my luggage because the entirety of Europe had descended (literally) on Stansted at once, then mosied out to the coach station to find a HUGE huddle of people trying to get on National Express. Considered tracking down the nice girl from Duluth I'd been talking to on the plane who said she was gonna sleep in the airport for the night, but the idea of being home, comfortable and warm lead me to persevere with NX. (Besides, she has my number
)
Finally got a coach to Victoria at 3.20, got the first train that went near my home at 5.15 and then a bus the rest of the way. Got in at 6.30.
All in all, about 12 hours, door-to-door, crossing 1 timezone.
On Monday I hope to cross 7 timezones in 10 hours.
Phase 1- go home. Complete. eventually.
Went to bed at 7.30, more because I felt I should than because I wanted to- was considering staying up until midnight tonight just for shits, giggles and sleep-deprived hallucinations. Might have taken a moderate amount of caffeine, though. Slept for 4 hours, got up and booked a haircut. Took a bath, grabbed a sandwich and then went to my appointment. Fortunately someone (with a cute monroe, I hasten to add) offered me a coffee when I got there, which made sure I didn't fall asleep in the chair.
Phase 2- look dashing. Complete. easy.
Came home, got out my electric and jammed with my delay pedal, which was a lot of fun and a good practice tool- may have another go in a bit.
Trying to decide whether to buy an Ipod here so I have something to listen to on the way to, in, and on the way back from AZ, or whether to buy one for about 1/2 price in AZ and not be able to use it until I'm back in Sweden. If I have another journey like last night's, I might be quite glad for one...
What do you think?
No Americans have mailed me their addresses- don't youlike nice candy, America?
