Part of my problem is that I don't seize opportunities when they're presented to me. I think about things too much, analyze their pros and cons and miss the value of just doing things for the hell of it.
I heard Jimmy Carr talking on TV yesterday about getting into comedy because he had a quarter-life crisis and realised he didn't want to do everything he'd been doing up to that point. I always thought a quarter-life crisis was a bit of a bullshit idea to excuse doing whatever obnoxious, useless thing a person decides to do in their mid-twenties, but last night it had a ring of truth to it and I wondered if actually I'm going through the same thing, and that after 2 years out, 4 years of uni and 1 year of temporary employment, all I ever wanted to do-- but was too afraid to do-- was play music. I should've punctuated that better, but actually it encapsulates my thought processes quite accurately.
Trouble is, MID-life crises often result in fast-cars, jailbait girlfriends and poor fashion choices. The more cautious side of me is wondering if this whim to down... well, UP sticks falls in the same category as a 50 year old with a Porsche... But then, as we have established, that cautious person should shut the fuck up sometimes.

Well in this case I saw your profile pic and jumped at the chance to tell you I LOVED The Hitchhiker trilogy and even the film. Now if only I could be as decisive about things in 'real' life.
As for your quarter life crisis: I say go for it! Really. I dated a guy who went straight into the work force from Uni and he totally had no life. After two years he had practically no interests/hobbies. Anyhow, long story short; when I left to do shows he quit his job, flew to Korea, and started teaching english. He's still there, but now, fluent in the language, he's re-entering the work force over there! As if. Pretty cool turn around huh?
Oh yeah, and music is sexy. Can't argue with that!
Good Luck,
Tita
