You know the question, if you could meet one person, dead or alive, who would it be?
I have 3 or 4 people, but one of them is Bono from U2, purely because the way he mixes philosophy, politics and music fascinates me.
Today I started reading "Bono on Bono" and I realised how much we have in common with each other. It was as much as I could do not to cry while reading about his relationship with his dad. It's not like he described my relationship with my dad exactly, but I could identify with so much of what he talked about. He wrote this song as "the last song I'll ever write about my dad" and today it's barely left my head for a moment.

cece:
in visiting new york, i would definitely suggest checking out:

coney island if you get the chance. taking the D train, it doesn't take too long and the ride through brooklyn is almost entirely above ground. you can see nathan's world famous, the home of the american hot dog. to one end of the boardwalk, there's the aquarium, which was a mafia dump site before it was developed. (neat, huh?) to the other end of the boardwalk, there's an abandoned restaurant from coney island's days as america's playground. it is really beautiful. if you really want to walk far, there's a lighthouse which is on its last master. there's a pretty great freakshow on surf ave. lola star (on the boardwalk) has THE BEST coney island knick knacks. i have a beach towel that is exclusive to them. the last time i was in new york, that's where i bought everyone gifts. there's also a photobooth at the base of the wonder wheel. try checking out if the cyclones have a game while you're in town.

the automat on st marks is, i believe, the only one in existance on the east coast. at the very least, it's visually interesting. and if you like sunglasses, you're on the right street.

if you like musicals (or RENT, specifically), the life cafe is a real place with exceptional breakfast potatoes (and t-shirts for sale). and it's really close to a lovely park where basquiat was discovered. (and a pretty cool joe strummer mural.)

have a cupcake from either magnolia or babycakes (the latter is vegan, but has THE BEST carrot cake ever).

walk over the brooklyn bridge -or- walk over the manhattan bridge to get a beautiful view of the brooklyn bridge.

check out the mta transit museum in brooklyn. it's in a former subway stop and features all the old cars that have been used over the years. it's a pretty fun place to take photos.

if they have a show, my friends she keeps bees are worth checking out, in my opinion. they were picked by L magazine as one of the 8 bands to watch in nyc.
