The last 3 weeks have been about the longest I can remember. I took a look at my brother's blog this week and for various reasons he hasn't updated it since June. Without any sense of exaggeration, it feels like he might as well have updated it on New Year's Eve. The last 6 months of 2006 felt like 3 weeks, and the last 3 weeks have felt like about 3 months or more. Mad.
Some of the reason for this is that owing to illness and family grievances, I've been left on my own in my department to do about 4 people's work for 2 weeks of this month already. Lots of work means lots of mistakes; lots of mistakes means lots of awkward conversations with customers, trying to find a diplomatic way to say I screwed up because I have too much work to do. Oh, and more work trying to rectify the problems I've created for myself.
In my spare moments for the first week or two, I wished my ladyfriend was anywhere but Africa so I could at least call her, if not see her. During the third week I started wondering if I'd made a big mistake buying a 400 ticket to see her in NC at Easter, but these worries are subsiding now.
On the upside, the reason why I've been kept on at work is to hold the fort while they train up my replacement. Seeing as no one has been in the office to do any training, there's a considerable chance I will still be needed in February, which is all good.

Awkward conversations with customers is never fun. Oh wow Easter is such a long time from now. I bet you are counting down the days.
