Play this game at your own risk. Seriously. Don't say I didn't warn you - it's absurdly addictive. My high score is 25666, with 180 squares. Top that.
Edited to say that my high score is now 30603, 199 squares.
Edited again to say that I believe I have now set the world record for this game, with 54712 points and 268 squares.
I need to update more often. I've got like three half finished journal entries lying around my computer, and don't have the energy to actually finish them. One of which is uncharacteristically... emo, for me. That may not never see the light of the day, lest it be used to blackmail me at some indeterminant point in the future when I make my bid for world domination. Suffice to say it's a meditation on string theory and relationships. Yeah, I knew you weren't interested either.
I'm at a really uncomfortable point in my grant writing right now. This stupid thing is due on Friday, and it's a maximum of six pages, twelve point font and half inch margins. Including references. I'm basically adapting an earlier proposal that I wrote for an NIH grant, but that was twelve pages. Thanks to my friends in NHS I've compressed it and edited out a bit, so it's down to seven pages. But I need to cut off another page (and I'd really, really like to put in another figure, but I don't see how that's possible.) At what point did I start having too much to say? I still remember those late nights in high school, banging away at the computer until 2AM to make sure I hit the mandatory 5 page mark on whatever assignment I happened to be working on.
Of course, for the more faithful readers of my journal among you it probably won't come as much of a surprise that what I write is too long. Brevity has never been my strong suit.
This past weekend was nice. I actually took a day off from the lab and went with SGNY/SGNJ to Great Adventure. It was fun, and it was nice to get out of the city. Plus I met a whole bunch of new SG people. One of whom revealed to me (and I subsequently revealed to her) that we had been each other's internet crushes for a long time, but neither of us had ever said anything about it. Funny.
I'm going out of town this weekend for my mother's birthday. I'm not all that excited about it, I have more work than I'd like to think about that needs to be done here, but I promised I'd go, so I'm going. I hope everyone is enjoying their week and didn't get too soaked by that stupid hurricane yesterday. Wish me luck on this stupid grant.
