"Putting the liberal back in liberal media bias." I think that's going to be my new slogan from now on.
I've decided that it's fine to give my articles a left-wing slant, since I figure a conservative columnist would do the same. So there. Take that, Bush. (I'm sure he's quaking.) And Sean seems to think that editorializing a bit is OK, so it's fine with the site too.
Today has been kind of annoying. I spent the first hour this morning arguing with the management company who the building where I live. In late January, I noticed that I had not yet received my bill for the February rent. After leaving several messages with the accounting people at the company asking about it, I finally got ahold of a real person, who assured me that I could just "stick the checks in an envelope and clearly mark which apartment it's for and it will be fine." Which I did.
Yesterday I got a notification from the company that they had only deposited one of the checks that we sent (not mine) and we needed to pay up the remainder of the rent, plus a $100 late fee, or face legal action. I left two messages yesterday about it and no one returned my phone call. This morning I tried again and finally got through (I'm really NOT a morning person, which worked to my advantage.) The woman who I spoke with was a huge bitch, she kept making it sound like I was trying to get out of paying rent. I kept telling her that I had mailed the check as per her instructions, and had screwed it up. She didn't seem to be getting this. Finally I told her that I just wanted this whole thing resolved and to get on with my life. She said fine, I needed to send in another check as soon as possible, and stop payment on my previous check. Which I did, including a big note saying "Please don't fuck this one up too." Ugh. I'm definitely finding a new apartment.
Otherwise, things in the lab were fairly quiet today. I had some frozen brain slicing to do, which actually worked (I have like a 10% success rate with that) which was nice. We'll see how the pictures come out. And after writing my politics section articles I'm getting ready to go home, chill for a bit and then head out to the party this evening, which should be fun. I hope to see many of you all there.
