Yesterday I made an unexpected trip to Vancouver B.C. I have some friends in a band called Boats! from Sacramento who were playing a show in Seattle on Friday. They stayed with me (per usual) and had their first ever Canadian show Saturday at the Astoria in Vancouver (with The Tranzmitors!) It was the weekend so I decided to go up with them. I had never been to Canada, dispite living so close to it for the past 4 years and I decided it was about time. I took pictures on my iphone (which means there are none with me in them.)
Crossing the Us/ Candian Border near Bellingham. The band went up seperatly in another vehicle, they got through fine, but they searched my car.
Ah, Gastown.
Alley in Gastown
Walking through Gastown.
The Astoria! Lineup: Tvees, Boats!, Tranzmitors.
The bar at The Astoria
We stayed with this guy named Dana who knew my friends. He's in a band called The Zip Guns.
That's his place.
When we saw that Iggy Pop was on his wall, we knew everything would work out.
The next morning (this morning) in his garden.
I realled liked Vancouver. somehow it mixed new and old architecture in an exciting way, different than anything else I'd seen. Maybe it was the city's surroundings as well. I thought it was incredible. I have a feeling Vancouver is going to be a place where I make new friends and go to more often. I'd like to get to know it better.
