yesterday we drove through point reyes again, but this time we didn't do the bbq/beach thing. we drove along tomales bay and found a hiking trail with coastal access. walking down a meandering path, the wind is rustling the grass and wild flowers, the hillside smells like mandarin orange, you can see the water is right there, but upon turning a bend you see there's still a long ways to go. i jumped when i almost stepped on a garter snake, which removed all pretty and dreamy thoughts. i decided i wanted to do more driving than hiking because i wanted to see the mouth of the bay. so we hiked back up and drove some more along PCH 1.
we drove through several small ranching towns with businesses called 'General Store' and 'Saloon,' reminiscent of the Ponderosa. We also discovered two more oyster farms. i wasn't impressed. higher prices and an admission fee to the picnic grounds?? no thank you, i won't be visiting their fine establishments in my lifetime. we also made a dandy detour to Dillon Beach. it's a small beach town at the mouth of Tomales Bay... where there is no free parking so we retraced our steps back to PCH 1, hit Sonoma County and headed home. Of course it's almost 6pm and we're in the company of good traffic, people pulling off to the side of the fwy to because they drank too much at the Somona wineries. so we took a detour to the Petaluma Factory Store Outlets and went window shopping until the traffic disappeared. we were home by 8pm, cooked up some chow mein, put in some sg time and crashed.
thank you everyone for helping me out on the tattoo decision. and for the record, i'm not getting the bumbleturtle! i'm getting a turtle.
