Sad face
On saturday morning, at 5am, my 2nd home burned down.
The Prince of Wales Hotel (aka 'Jimmy Rowes') has been my 'cheers' for the last 8 years, and today it is no more.
apparently a downlight had some dust in it and it went up in flames, one of the owners was alseep upstairs when it happened, and thank god he got out ok. but the top floor is completely gone and downstairs, where the bar is, is totally trashed by water damage and needs to be demolished, they reckon at least a year until she is back up and running again, if ever
That pub was my home, the staff like family. I've met some of my best friends there, i discovered my current career in photography & graphic design there, they gave me a weekly job doing photos there to get me started (which i still did to this day!) I've celebrated countless events there, spent thousands of hours under that roof & both met and fell in love with my fiancee there
It was supposed to be our Christmas party there tonight, but it has been moved to a house party and has become a night of rememberance, the owners have donated whatever booze was salvaged and we will all be toasting the amazing times we have had there.
i spent saturday with the owners while the embers were still smoking, i got a few pictures ...
The Main bar .. the downlights up in the purple bit is the suspected starting point
Behind the bar
view from the dance floor
The promo room upstairs ... upstairs barely has a roof anymore, the room next to this is where the owner was sleeping, its a miracle he got out alive.
apologies for the depressing blog, but i really feel like a part of me is missing! its times like these i would go and cheer up by stopping in to jimmies ... fuck
*EDIT* not sure why all the pics came out sideways ... cbf fixing them right now, so just tilt your head to the side
