Today there was an international student day of protest against the war on Iraq, and here in Santa Cruz we had a pretty big event on campus. It wasn't as well attended as I would have hoped, but it was still pretty cool. It looks like the war's gonna start in less than a month, and the protests are escalating too.
As the rally was winding down, a band set up in a corner and started playing this really cool acid rock and funk. As I was hanging out listening to them play, after an afternoon of protesting another US imperialist war, I suddenly forgot what decade it was. Santa Cruz will do that to you - it's like it has a bubble keeping it in 1971. I love it.

but people are definitely pissed off. maybe this will be some kind of pinnacle, and the critical mass of revolutionary change will be called into action.
i had to come and check your profile, bcs your name is similar to the name of my street, which happens to be in paris. and then i see you have visions of living here. have you been here before? i have been here for 7 months but i go home soon. it is a strange place, and if you have any interest in existentialism, lemme give you my impressions some time.
ciao
