When I came to my computer after waking up a little while ago and Iooked at the date, I suddenly realized that it's my parent's 58th wedding anniversary today. Something in my head has been nagging at me all week that something significant was coming up. I phoned my sister who's having this brunch today and she had no idea either.
I'm the one in the family that everyone relies on for significant dates. Thank heavens I remembered today rather than tomorrow. Now she wants me to give a small speech at the brunch, which is ok, because it's just family. I gave a speech at their 50th, which was a big to do. That was a little intimidating. I may have mentioned my dislike of giving speeches before.
When Mom was diagnosed with cancer a year ago last May, things weren't looking so good. That was a very upsetting time. After her surgery, she went into chemo, but all the stuff we read about the type of cancer she had suggested that four months was the normal length of time she probably had left to live. That was 16 months ago and she's doing amazing. The chemo has finished and they're now doing some studies on her to see how her liver looks. 79 years old now and I guess she can fight. But I've always known that.

58 years, eh? Seeing as how I haven't known anyone in my life for that long, I can't imagine being married for that long. That's super!
