Well I automatically wanted to say, "What's your favorite scary movie?" Just because I'm odd and enjoy all kinds of corny horror movies.
Moving on.
I am a giant movie buff. I love watching just about anything and everything. I could tell you why another time.
I have more than one, but I'll just share one of my top favorite movies. (I'm stubborn and stalling I know)
As of late my favorite movie is Her.
Because it's one of the newest additions to my favorites list and I think it's worth discussing. I have many different kinds of favorite movies from various genres and film styles. But something I always look for in a movie is it's ability to change my thought process or shape my personality. Her is a film that really did that to me.
Before I start raving about the movie (Spoiler Alert) I do have to say I didn't really like the scenes focused on having another girl come in the relationship that Samantha hired so that the random women could be the alive version of Sam. While I see how it can make sense predicting how our world will be relationship wise in the future, I think they might have taken it a little too far with the almost sex scene. Forget about that though that's not what this is about.
Her is a movie that got me through the last few months of my life after struggling with slight doubts in my relationship, problems with my family, and deciding on the "right career". The movie focuses so well on the specific areas in life that are really important and that we all seem to screw up or take advantage of. The best part is it teaches you how to recognize these errors or the opposite recognize the positives. It's a movie that is realistic and simplistic in the most beautiful raw way, and oddly inspiring. It's a movie that will make you want to tell your loved ones how much you really love them. It will make you want to cry while cuddling your lover. It will make you feel special. It will make you feel understood. It will make you feel hopeful. It will make you feel like everything is going to be okay.
Now if all this is not making sense to you
A) Go watch the movie
B) If you already did A and still have no idea what the fuck I'm saying it's probably because I'm weird or because you thought the movie was crazy.
Either way that sucks haha.
No, seriously it was a movie I liked mostly for it's sense of realness portrayed through the characters. From scenes with lighthearted jokes to moments of anger, joy, fear, jealousy, acceptance, depression, and content. I think any piece of work that allows you to go through a roller coaster of emotions while experiencing it deserves to be called, "Damn good". I also really like how our future was portrayed. It wasn't portrayed in this ridiculous unrealistic way with flying cars, weird clunky gadgets, or extremely weird fashion. It was simply an accurate display of what now will look like enhanced and improved in the future. Advanced. Minimalistic. Regressed progression.
And it has one damn good soundtrack, one I've been meaning to download.
Sorry, if this was long and all over the place. That's usually how I am when I talk about things I enjoy. Oh well I'm just happy to be writing an actual blog.
Talk more soon!
