Last night I had two optiions which were: a.) Go out with my girl friend Lisa to this "Contractors Award Show" which had an open bar or b.) Go to a Goth induastrial gig on Main and 2nd. I went to the Goth show.
My girlfriend Carmen picked me up at the Main St. Skytrain station and she drove us to the gig. I thought the night would be fun. You know cool...industrial music and goth people. What more could you want?
We arrived at the gig and met up with Carmen's boy freind who is In one of Canada's oldest Industrial Bands ( he was doing sound for the show). He told us that it was an all ages show and it is a dry venue. Carmen and I looked at each other and said in stereo "where can we get beer?". He said there is a hotel with off sales not very far from here. Carmen and I left to go look for it.
We walked a hell of a long way (Kingsway and 12th) to this grungy hotel went around back and grabbed a 6 pack Pilsner. Knowing that we wouldn't be able to bring the beer inside the venue on our way back we started to drink. I swear to god I felt like I was 15 all over again. We actually had a fun time walking and talking despite the fact that is was really cold out and we were wearing skirts.
When Carmen and I arrived back the front of the venue was swarmned with 13-17 year old Goth kids. My heart dropped and I grabbed Carmen and said, "Honey I am going home I'm 15 years older than some of these kids. This isn't good.". Just after I had said that we ran into some prople from the "Sanctuary Goth/ Sin City" Crowd. I said to my self, "Thank god there are people my age and older at this show".
While in side the band was running late due to Technical problems (too many cables & no stage crew). Finally at 11:30 the show started. I have to say the music sounded good but the Venue wasn't designed for Loud Industrial music to be played live in it. I have sensitive ears I could hear the high piched feed back and I my head was starting to throb. And then a twist of fate happened.
As I put my right hand into the pocket of my leather jacket I felt a plastic package. Oh My God......Ear Plugs!! I guess they were still in my pocket from a Jam session I was at weeks ago. I suck them in my ears and I was saved.
At the end of the show the people from Sanctuary/Sin City and myself went to Club 23 West for "Organics" (trip hop/ house etc.). I usually go there the second Saturday of the month for Fetish Night. When we arrived I walked around the bar for a bit and looked at the trippy decore. The people looed like your usual run of the mill ravers etc. I went downstairs where the Dungon is on fetish night and instead I saw a dance floor, couches and a pool table. I didn't know they owned a pool talble? What a difference.
After that I went back up-stairs where every one was hanging out and I grabbed a beer. I Totally prefer it when Club 23 West has Sin City Fetish night . I like the music and Naked People Rock.
The rest of the night was uneventful. A friend's girlfriend was flirting with me, people were dropping "E" and I became borred. So when the clock struck 2 I said bye to everyone, left the club, caught a taxi and went home.
The night was a bust in a way. I didn't meet any new and interesting people, I wasn't in the mood to drink or pop chemicals.
I have to say when I arrived home I was happy to be on my couch, in my comfortable jammies, watching tv, completely sober.
Stay tunned.......

Yeah!! I've totally seen you at Sin City. I barely recognized you with a shirt on
Are you going to BP this month?
