Brace yourselves for an epic blog.
It's only February but so much has happened this year already, it's truly been crazy and I can't wait for things to slow down, but I'm sure they won't!
New Years was a quiet event, we had a handful of friends over, they drank, I drank the non-alcoholic versions of the drink, we talked and most importantly we looked at boobs! Well you would wouldn't you? It looked as though 2013 would be so promising, how wrong were we.
My boyfriend's mum suffers with a stomach disorder, she has been ill for sometime and has lost weight and become very weak. January 5th she is taken in to hospital, they decide to keep her in until she gains some weight and gets a little stronger. January 6th, I'm sat at work when my phone rings, it's one of my boyfriend's sisters, I can tell straight away something is wrong so I leave work and head straight for the hospital. i arrive to find the results of the tests they did have shown way more than we had anticipated and she has been rushed in for emergency surgery. We're told as she is so small she might not make it. So we sit in the hospital cafe for 6 hours waiting. It was the longest 6 hours ever.
Eventually we are allowed up onto the critical care unit where she has been taken to recover. The news was not good. The next few days were a blur of waiting rooms, tubes, wires, machines and anxious bleeping. Joe's 2 sisters moved into our house along with their little black cat and we wait. The first week felt like forever, Expecting the worst is such an awful feeling, being around so much hurt and upset was incredibly draining and sad. I cut my hours at work to be with the girls, Joe had to go back as he is the breadwinner. Many twists and turns were taken, but finally we are at a stage where we think things are going to get better. I don't want to talk too much about the details, but she has pulled through. Luck isn't even the word. We all need some good karma to ensure who recovery continues!
It's been very snowy here in the Brum, this has made hospital visits difficult, but we made it everyday without fail. I'm so proud of Joe and the girls.
Anyway, in that time my birthday came and went. i didn't do anything this year. The mood just didn't call for it. Joe's younger sister had her birthday the week before me, we hope to do something together once things are a little better.
Seems like this is all doom and gloom right? Well there is a silver lining beneath this cloud - as there usually is! Two weeks ago, Joe came home from work looking a little flustered, he was carrying something and looked anxious to say something. He says 'So are you gonna marry me then or what?' I told him he'd have to try a little better than that! I know cheeky but he did actually remember to get down on one knee and do it properly, so how could I refuse? I am now officially engaged and will be getting married at the start of next year!
Life is calming down considerably now, we still spend a lot of time at the hospital but things are getting easier. I am now back at work full time and the girls were strong enough to go back to their own home, so now we are alone again and busy planning a wedding!, it is way more stressful than I ever imagined!
Other than that I have been shooting a little, but not as much as I'd like, hopefully I can make up for that over the next few months though, pictures next time I promise as I have rattled on enough for now
Take care good people of SG.
