I just realized that I have posted two random blog posts and I have even posted anything about myself yet... so... here it is.
I consider myself honest, loyal, respectful, intelligent, fun, funny, hardworking, a nice guy, and those are just a FEW of my good qualities. I tell it like it is, even though sometimes people don't like to hear it...but can admit when Im wrong.
I am a 31 year old US Marine Corps Veteran. I was in the Marine Corps for 8 years and am also very patriotic. On the evening of June 29th 2011, I was riding back from visiting with some acquaintances. I was 20 minutes from home after enjoying and hour long ride back, when I was struck on the right side by a vehicle and knock of my bike. The vehicle that hit me fled the scene. As I came to I realized that I was still in the middle of a three lane highway, so I began to crawl out of the road while still stunned and in a daze. That was when I was run over by a minivan. I lost a heavy amount of blood and had to be resuscitated twice before that could get me stable at the hospital. As a result of accident and treatment, I had to have my right leg above the knee as well as the 5th digit of my left hand amputated.
I have a Service Dog named "Gunny" that I got from NEADS: Dogs for Deaf and Disabled Americans through their Canines for Combat Vets program. I take care of myself and try to be as active as I can for a one legged man.
This life has not been easy, enjoyable, and has been full of pain. It has brought new difficulties and challenges into my life both through physical, as well as emotional and relationship manifestations. Nonetheless, it is my life and I will continue to live it. This life will not be as great as the one I had before, but it is the only one I have. Not that I'm not grateful to be alive, I would just prefer to have challenges which are not do to a physical or mental disability (like the ones most people deal with). I do, however, know that if I keep trying to live the life I have right, it will be the only one I need.
I am walking now and have 4 prosthetic legs which have allowed me to get back to some modicum. I have a good job with very supportive co-workers. "It's my life...It's now or never...I ain't gonna live forever...I just wanna live while I'm alive!!!" I love food, but don't tend to overdo it, unless its a special occasion. I LOVE WATCHING MOVIES. Although I am not physically close to my family, they are definitely very important to me.
Feel free to go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrMGtzSfBmM&list=TLFxj76KFiSZk and check out the video. Its an interview done on me and my life which should help to better illustrate my true character. Pictures are worth 1000 words. Maybe that video is worth more. That video also kinda shows some of the things I've tried since I lost my leg and part of my hand.
